Nick Stepkovitch

Sports & Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist

Nick's special interests are in the management of complex spinal conditions (particularly involving the pelvis and thoracic spine); and those  neuromusculoskeltal conditions that have failed to respond to previous interventions.

Nick has been involved in producing numerous outcome studies in the areas of spinal and lymphoedema conditions. He has also lectured continuously for Sports Medicine Australia in their Safer Sport programs since 1984. A Google search on his name will provide recent published research on Low Back pain with Sydney University as well as other articles with links to the full details.

His approach to treatment has been shaped by a number of clinical philosophies, but is based on a mechanical approach, viewing the body as a system of interconnecting links and examining the effect dysfunction in one area has on the system as a whole.

He was awarded the title of APA Sports Physiotherapist in 1999 in recognition of 25 years of continuous fieldwork in voluntary organizations plus involvement in sports coverage for the
Australian Red Cross Society, Sports Medicine Australia and Sports Physiotherapy Australia of NSW. He continues to coordinate physiotherapy coverage of the Hawkesbury Canoe Classic, as he has since 1980.

Nick graduated from Cumberland College of Health Sciences (now University of Sydney) in 1981 and completed a Post Graduate diploma in Manipulative Therapy in 1987.

Nick commenced practice in Hornsby in December 1982 at the Hornsby Physiotherapy Centre (1982-1997) and then developed the physiotherapy service at Mt Wilga Private Hospital between 1989-2002.
